100 Case Histories in Clinical Medicine for MRCP

This book 100 Case Histories in Medicine is a good contribution to the subject of clinical medicine giving a good coverage to different sections of internal medicine. This book presentation is simple, readable, accurate and with a sound scientific foundation. This book work will receive respect, admiration and success it rightly deserves from undergraduate, postgraduate medical students and family practitioners. The clinical skills of history taking and examination make the main pillar of good medical practice and most of the cases depend upon clinical presentation and examination. This book is an effort to pick up the “brains” by exercising problem solving. In this book brief history and important clues on clinical examination along with investigations are provided. Few important investigations are intentionally omitted and are asked in questions. In a few histories, the ECG or X-ray is shown and the reader is expected to interpret those to reach a diagnosis. In this book SI units have been used. The lay out is in the form of chapters which are named system-wise and the diagnosis of case histories are labelled as such. If a reader is interested to read the cases related to, for example, cardiology, then the reader can go through that chapter and so on. An attempt has been made to improve important questions related to the text and current concepts are also discussed. This book will not only help problem solving in day-to-day life of medical doctors but will also serve as a purpose for preparing them for their postgraduate examination in medicine, e.g. FCPS, MRCP and others.

Masterpass MRCP Cardiology MCQs pdf download

Cardiology is a large and critical branch of internal medicine, and as such covers a vast amount of the knowledge tested in Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP) exams. This study guide contains 150 multiple choice questions (MCQs), each with various numbers of stem answers. The questions cover a wide range of both cardiology and cardiovascular pharmacology and encompass both basic anatomy and physiology of the heart, through to advanced topics such as evidence-based medicine. The questions are supplemented at the back of the book with explanatory answers to aid further revision and study.

My First MRCP Book

My First MRCP Book has now set thousands of candidates on the right course not just for part 1 of the MRCP examination, but also for part 2 and PACES, utilising fun and easy ways to remember facts that will invariably prove useful whether students are puzzling over a tricky question or confronting the furrowed brow of a formidable PACES examiner. This second edition has been adjusted to reflect the new written examination, which is now a best of five format. While that may initially seem easier than the old format, the reality is that it can still be confusing when all five choices seem to be plausible answers. Knowing some basic facts will help students to tackle this situation with ease. To reflect the changes, three new authors have joined the ranks. Having recently (and eventually!) succeeded in passing the new format of the examination, the newbies have added questions on topics such as atrial fibrillation, tuberculosis, HIV and diabetes that, in their recent experience, reflect the changing emphasis of the examination. In addition, they have included a few images and ECGs, which will test your problem-solving abilities in addition to knowledge of the facts. Most importantly, we hope that this book will give pleasure, as much to the student as to the more qualified reader, and, whoever you are, we hope that you will enjoy your lessons. But remember don t leave your room smiling. Maintain the myth of the tortured youth.

Get through MRCP PACES

This book is an aid to preparation for the MRCP PACES (Practical Assessment of Clinical Examination Skills) examination.book is structured into the format of the exam, such that each chapter represents a station.cases are included  that commonly present in MRCP PACES exams.
also included is a chapter on examination skills, which outlines how to examine each system. The cases in this book are laid out as in the exam setting. They begin with scenario information typical of what you will receive in the exam. The structuring of the information provided for each case follows the format you will encounter in the exam. In each case discussion, we have followed a question and answer style to mimic a conversation with the examiner. This format allows you to recreate realistic scenarios for all the stations. This approach is useful in private study and for role-playing with colleagues. This can be used to practise with colleagues or on your own, and we found this a very useful approach to adopt when revising for the PACES exam ourselves. We have included photographs throughout the book to give a useful overall impression of selected conditions. There is also a chapter of supplementary cases at the back of the book with a collection of photographs, including many on eye and skin conditions. These could arise in a variety of contexts throughout the exam, so they have been placed in a separate chapter where they are easily accessible. They include many conditions that are often used as spot diagnoses and therefore may be used to test yourself in private study or in groups. Alongside each photo we have included useful clinical information structured as possible question and answer scenarios.Although we have included a wide breadth of scenarios and discussion points, please remember that the content of this book is not exhaustive, and it is important to read around any topics you come across that are not included here. The further reading recommendations are sources of information that will also be useful in preparing for the exam.

      MRCP PACES Masterclass Collection PDF

The second edition of Medical Masterclass is produced and published by the Education Department of the Royal College of Physicians of London. It comprises 12 textbooks, a companion interactive website and two CD-ROMs. Its aim is to help doctors in their first few years of training to improve their medical knowledge and skills; and in particular to (a) learn how to deal with patients who are acutely ill, and (b) pass postgraduate examinations, such as the MRCP(UK) or European Diploma in Internal Medicine.
The 12 textbooks are divided as follows: two cover the scientific background to medicine, one is devoted to general clinical skills [including specific guidance on exam technique for PACES, the practical assessment of clinical examination skills that is the final part of the MRCP(UK) exam], one deals with acute medicine and the other eight cover the range of medical specialties.
The core material of each of the medical specialties is dealt with in seven sections:
      • Case histories – you are presented with letters of referral commonly received in each specialty and led through the ways in which the patients’ histories should be explored, and what should then follow in the way of investigation and/or treatment.
      • Physical examination scenarios – these emphasise the logical analysis of physical signs and sensible clinical reasoning: ‘having found this, what would you do?’
      • Communication and ethical scenarios – what are the difficult issues that commonly arise in each specialty? What do you actually say to the ‘frequently asked (but still very difficult) questions?’
      • Acute presentations – what are the priorities if you are the doctor seeing the patient in the Emergency Department or the Medical Admissions Unit?
      • Diseases and treatments – structured concise notes.
      • Investigations and practical procedures – more short and to-the-point notes.
      • Self assessment questions – in the form used in the MRCP(UK) Part 1 and Part 2 exams.
The companion website – which is continually updated – enables you to take mock MRCP(UK) Part 1 or Part 2 exams, or to be selective in the questions you tackle (if you want to do ten questions on cardiology, or any other specialty, you can do). For every question you complete you can see how your score compares with that of others who have logged onto the site and attempted it. The two CD-ROMs each contain 30 interactive cases requiring diagnosis and treatment.
